One, Asian women are the most desirable and receive the most responses across all ethnicities.A new episode of the "Reply All" podcast (tagline: "A show about the Internet") delves into the disturbing world of online dating as an Asian woman. The story's producer Stephanie Foo, who is Asian, uses the story as an example of the problem of "yellow fever" on online dating sites. The episode follows a woman named Suzanne who met a white guy named John online, fell for his sweet, caring personality, and dated him for about six months, until she uncovered a slew of other women — all Asian like her — that he was also currently dating, sometimes even sending them the exact same emails and messages he sent her. Terrified of the man she thought she knew, Suzanne confronted John, but their fight was interrupted by a knock on the door. Guys who fetishize Asian women see them as sweet, passive objects, and target and manipulate them in a way they would never do to women of another race. But Foo says she's dealt with so many guys who specifically prey upon Asian women on dating sites that she couldn't help but wonder: Is the guy on the phone trying to play the hero so she'd trust him? It's that kind of fear that Foo says every Asian woman who tries online dating knows.Listen to the full episode here: Subscribe to "Reply All" here.
